Project Brief

The objective of this project is to create a high-quality vector illustration of an original character for the front cover of a gaming magazine. The designer must develop a compelling backstory for the character and produce preliminary sketches inspired by existing video game character poses to inform the final composition.

My Design

To construct the character illustration, I employed flat shapes in varying shades and opacities to simulate highlights and shadows, enhancing the sense of depth and form. Clipping masks were utilized to neatly contain intricate details within base shapes, particularly for the character’s clothing elements. Additionally, an outer glow effect was applied to the magical swirls emanating from the character’s hands, emphasizing her mystical energy.
